Mackay Born. Mackay Built.
A lifetime of hard work — in the pub kitchens, the mines, the warehouses, and now the wards. Anthony Turner has lived the Mackay experience, and he's ready to fight for it.
Meet Anthony Get InvolvedWho is Anthony?
Anthony Turner didn't come to Mackay for an opportunity — he was born here. He grew up in this community, went to school here, and has spent his entire working life here. When he talks about what matters to Mackay families, he's speaking from lived experience, not a briefing paper.
From washing dishes in local pub kitchens to driving forklifts in warehouses and cleaning in the mines to keep his family going, Anthony has done the work this region is built on. Today, he puts that same dedication into his work as a Registered Nurse — caring for Mackay people when they need it most.
Anthony is standing for council because he believes the people who do the work deserve a seat at the table.

What Anthony stands for
No spin. No corporate backers. Just a bloke from Mackay who knows what this community needs because he's lived it.
Council decisions touch everyday costs — rates, fees, local services. Anthony will fight to keep Mackay affordable for working families, not just investors.
Having worked across hospitality, resources, and logistics, Anthony understands what workers in this region need — fair conditions, secure employment, and a council that has their back.
As a Registered Nurse, Anthony sees firsthand where the system lets people down. He'll advocate hard for better local health infrastructure and services for our most vulnerable.
Too often the decisions get made by people who don't live with the consequences. Anthony will make sure the whole region — not just the CBD — is represented.
Council should be open, honest, and accountable. Anthony believes residents deserve to know how their money is spent and have a genuine say in decisions.
Roads, parks, drainage, public spaces — the basics matter. Anthony will push for practical infrastructure investment where the community actually needs it.

"I've worked every kind of shift this town has to offer. Now I want to work for Mackay in a different way — making sure the people who keep this region going have someone in their corner." — Anthony Turner
